FAIRFAX, VA-The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Congressman Howard Coble (R-NC) in the Republican primary for U.S. House of Representatives in the sixth congressional district of North Carolina being held on May 4.
"While serving in the House and as a senior-ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, Congressman Coble has consistently supported the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen, and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the Second Amendment and our country's rich hunting heritage," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Because of his unwavering pro-gun support and his leadership role in advancing Second Amendment issues in Congress, Howard Coble earned an 'A' rating and endorsement from NRA-PVF."
Rep. Coble voted for legislation enacted to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency and prevent bogus lawsuits aimed and bankrupting the firearms industry. He is also a cosponsor of the national Right-to-Carry reciprocity bill which would allow any person with a valid concealed firearm carrying license or permit, issued by a state, to carry a concealed firearm in any state. Rep. Coble helped restore self-defense rights in Washington, D.C. by voting for the D.C. Personal Protection Act, as well as signing the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the Supreme Court in the historic Heller case. Most recently, he signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief supporting the Second Amendment's application to state and local governments in the McDonald v. City of Chicago case now before the Supreme Court. Finally, Rep. Coble cosponsored legislation to force reform at the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Cox continued, "Rep. Coble's pro-gun accomplishments are extensive, and his record proves that he will continue to be a strong and consistent friend in the U.S. House of Representatives. This May 4th, I encourage all gun-owners and NRA members to vote for Rep. Coble in North Carolina's sixth congressional district Republican primary."
Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
