Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell for re-election in the May 20, 2014, Kentucky Republican primary.
"Mitch McConnell is a true champion of our Second Amendment rights, leading the fight against President Obama, Harry Reid and Michael Bloomberg's anti-freedom agenda," noted Chris W. Cox, chairman of the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund. "Sen. McConnell’s steadfast support of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms and hunting heritage has earned him an A+ rating from the NRA."
An “A+” rating is reserved for a legislator with not only an excellent voting record on all critical NRA issues, but who has also made a vigorous effort to promote and defend the Second Amendment.
Some of McConnell's key actions and votes on gun rights include his vote for the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which would ensure that law-abiding Americans are able to carry a concealed firearm in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry, and his strong opposition to the Obama/Bloomberg so-called “universal” background check system, which would criminalize the transfer of firearms between many family members and life-long friends.
McConnell has consistently opposed Senator Dianne Feinstein’s failed semi-automatic ban, designed to ban commonly owned semi-automatic firearms used for hunting, recreational shooting and self-defense. In addition, he opposes the U.N. gun ban treaty and cosponsored a resolution opposing any international treaty by the United Nations or other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners. He has also opposed efforts to shut down gun shows and ban commonly owned ammunition.

"As Republican Leader in the U.S. Senate, Sen. McConnell has proven his determination to fight for gun owners and hunters all across our country. He has consistently stood up to President Obama and the liberal gun control agenda. On behalf of the NRA's five million members, we are proud to endorse Mitch McConnell in the 2014 Kentucky Republican U.S. Senate primary. We urge all NRA members and supporters in Kentucky to vote Mitch McConnell for U.S. Senate on May 20," concluded Cox.
Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime.
