NRA-PVF Endorses Tim Murphy for U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District

Thursday, September 23, 2010

Fairfax, Va.-- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Tim Murphy for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District this November.

"The NRA-PVF is endorsing Tim Murphy because he is a strong defender of the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in Pennsylvania and across America," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF.

Murphy has demonstrated his commitment to our Second Amendment rights by voting for the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act that ended bogus lawsuits against the firearms industry and cosponsoring legislation to force much-needed reform of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  He also cosponsored the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity amendment, which would extend federal protection of state right-to-carry licenses and permits across the country, as well as the District of Columbia Personal Protection Act, which would repeal the D.C. gun ban/registration statute and restore the right of self-defense to law-abiding residents of our nation's capital.

Murphy signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of our individual right to keep and bear arms in the historic Heller case and the congressional amicus brief stating that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that applies to all Americans, no matter where they live, in the McDonald case. In addition, he voted for legislation to prohibit gun confiscation from law-abiding Americans during states of emergency and to allow concealed-carry permit holders to carry and transport firearms for self-defense in national parks and wildlife refuges.

"Tim Murphy is a strong voice in fighting ongoing efforts by anti-gun politicians to dismantle the Second Amendment.  That's why he has received an 'A' rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF," Cox concluded. "We ask all gun owners and hunters in Pennsylvania's 18th District to vote Tim Murphy for Congress on November 2nd."
