Fairfax, VA -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Bill Brady in the Illinois gubernatorial race on November 2.
"Bill Brady has earned the NRA-PVF endorsement for his unwavering pro-gun record," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF. "His commitment to preserving our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage makes Bill Brady the clear choice for Illinois gun owners."
As a member of Illinois Senate, Brady voted against state legislation to ban guns and opposed efforts to pass a one-gun-a-month gun rationing law. He voted for legislation to protect gun shows from being shut down, as well as efforts to ensure uniformity in state gun laws and prevent a patchwork of confusing local ordinances and regulations across the state. Because of his consistent support for individual gun ownership rights, Bill Brady has earned an "A" rating from the NRA-PVF.
In contrast, Brady's opponent, Pat Quinn, has earned an "F" rating from the NRA-PVF for his history of anti-gun activism. He has publicly opposed right-to-carry in Illinois and has endorsed a ban on semi-automatic firearms. The nation's leading gun ban group, the Brady Campaign, has endorsed Quinn, and he refused to answer the NRA-PVF 2010 candidate questionnaire -an indication of indifference, if not outright hostility, to the rights of gun owners and sportsmen.
"Voters in Illinois value their freedom, and they can count on Bill Brady to fight for them," Cox continued. "His strong dedication to freedom means that gun owners can count on Bill Brady to continue to support their right to hunt and to keep and bear arms. We urge all Illinois gun owners and sportsmen to vote Bill Brady for Governor on November 2."
