Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is announcing its endorsement of George Allen for U.S. Senate in the June 12 Republican primary election.
"George Allen is committed to protecting our Second Amendment freedoms and hunting heritage," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Because of his proven record of support of our right to keep and bear arms, George Allen has earned an “A” rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.”
During his time in Congress, George Allen maintained a strong pro-gun voting record. He cosponsored and voted for the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, stopping bogus lawsuits intended to bankrupt gun manufacturers by holding them responsible for the acts of criminals. George Allen sponsored National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity legislation. He also cosponsored the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act and voted to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency. As Governor of Virginia, George Allen supported and signed Virginia’s Right-to-Carry law, abolished parole for violent criminals, and promoted truth-in-sentencing legislation.
“George Allen knows that further regulation of firearms owned by law-abiding Americans will not reduce violent crime and will only embolden criminals who prey on honest victims. We urge all NRA members and gun owners in Virginia to vote George Allen in the Republican primary on June 12," concluded Cox.
