NRA Endorses Thom Tillis for U.S. Senate in North Carolina

Fairfax, Va. – On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Thom Tillis for U.S. Senate in North Carolina.

Based on his support of and commitment to the Second Amendment, Tillis has earned an “A+” rating from the NRA-PVF in the November 4, 2014 election. An “A+” is the highest possible rating and is reserved for legislators with an excellent voting record on critical NRA issues who have also made a vigorous effort to promote and defend the Second Amendment.

“Thom has a proven record of being a leader on Second Amendment issues in North Carolina and gun owners across the country can count on his support in the U.S. Senate," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF. “As Speaker of the North Carolina General Assembly, Thom was instrumental in the passage of a comprehensive self-defense law that included strong privacy protections for carry permit holders.  Thom is a Second Amendment supporter we can count on. He is not a fair weather friend who plays politics with our freedom.”

Tillis will continue to stand up to the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda, including their so-called “universal” background check system that would criminalize the private transfer of a firearm between life-long friends and many family members. Additionally, he opposes Obama’s anti-gun nominees for the U.S. Supreme Court, such as Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. Tillis also opposes any treaty by the United Nations or any other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners.

“We can count on Thom Tillis to stand up for our constitutional freedoms in the U.S. Senate,” added Cox. “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, I want to thank Thom for his steadfast support of the Second Amendment and encourage all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in North Carolina to vote Thom Tillis for U.S. Senate on November 4.”

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
