NRA-PVF Endorses John Dingell for U.S. House of Representatives in Michigan’s 15th Congressional District

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Fairfax, Va.-- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing John Dingell for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Michigan's 15th Congressional District this November.

Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF stated, "The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund supports John Dingell because he is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in Michigan and across America."

As a member of Congress, John Dingell has demonstrated his commitment to our Second Amendment rights by voting for legislation to curb bogus lawsuits against gun manufacturers and to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency. He also helped to restore self-defense rights in our nation's capital by cosponsoring and voting for the D.C. Personal Protection Act and the Second Amendment Enforcement Act, as well as signing the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the Supreme Court, supporting our individual right to keep and bear arms in the Heller case. Most recently, he signed the successful pro-gun congressional amicus brief arguing that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that protects all Americans in the McDonald case. In addition, he signed a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, stating his opposition to reinstating the failed assault rifle ban and magazine ban and supported legislation to force reform at the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

Dingell's consistent pro-gun record in the U.S. House of Representatives has earned him an "A+" rating -- the NRA-PVF's highest rating -- and the endorsement of the NRA-PVF.

"John Dingell has always been a leader on gun issues in Congress. On November 2nd, I urge all Michigan NRA Members and gun owners to vote John Dingell for Congress," Cox concluded.

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
