NRA-PVF Endorses State Representative Tom Saunders for Re-Election in Indiana’s 54th House District

Monday, September 27, 2010

Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing State Representative Tom Saunders (R-54) for re-election this November.

"Tom Saunders is the clear choice for gun owners and hunters in this race," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Tom is a solid defender of the Second Amendment and will continue to support the rights of gun owners in Indiana."

Throughout his tenure in the State House of Representatives, Tom Saunders has consistently defended the right to keep and bear arms, including: protecting lawful gun owners from being held liable if their firearms are stolen and later used in a crime; establishing a hunter apprentice license and Indiana's Lifetime Concealed Firearm Permit - the first of its kind in the United States; and signing two pro-gun "friend of the court" briefs in McDonald v. Chicago, supporting the position that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that protects all Americans.

In addition, he voted for Indiana's new Gun Permit Privacy Act and the Emergency Powers and Parking Lot laws, which protect citizens against firearm confiscations during states of emergency and wrongful termination by their employers for locking a firearm in their personal vehicle while at work.

Representative Saunders' dedication to preserving our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage has earned him an "A" rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.

"On November 2, I urge all Indiana NRA Members and gun owners in the 54th District to re-elect Tom Saunders," Cox concluded.
